A Mead musician is a confident performer who has a strong musical foundation built upon the basics of reading notation, group singing and participation in a variety and range of purposeful musical activities. They will also have the opportunity to learn how to play a range of instruments as a class or individually.
Knowledge:
Children will learn to understand a wide range of high quality live and recorded music drawn from different cultures and eras. They will develop their understanding of staff and other simple musical notations as well as the concepts of pitch, rhythm, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture and structure of a piece of music.
Skills:
Children will learn to listen with attention to detail and recall sounds with increasing aural memory. They will compose, improvise, play and perform their own simple rhythms and songs with increasing confidence.
Enrichment:
Our pupils will learn to sing, perform, read musical notation and play a variety of instruments. They will have the opportunity to participate in instrumental and vocal lessons, take music exams, represent the school in music festivals and attend music workshops.
